30 minute trolley dash!
Joining in this weeks Cath Kidston debate I have to show you my finds this week.
How lucky have I been in the charity shops. A couple of vintage aprons...I love the fabrics that these aprons are made of - so of their time.
A pair of 1987 Laura Ashley curtains for £2.99...Lots of charity shops now charge more if they can spot a label - Next, Laura Ashley etc but they don't seem to have wised up to peering into the seam to check the selvedge yet! Not sure whether I will use them as curtains yet - although there's nothing wrong with them I might just have to turn them into a tablecloth and matching napkins. (There will still be plenty left over.)Mmm -I'll see.
And another crocheted blanket...
And just look at it - it's huge! Its folded in half over my washing line! It's in perfect condition and made of wool. Regular readers will know that I have found several of these recently and I can't leave them behind. This cost little more than a new ball of wool!
Here it is laid over my garden bench. I'm so thrilled - I hadn't even intended going to the charity shops today - it just happened that there was an empty parking spot just outside as I was passing!
So here they are all together - a brilliant thrifty Saturday. And all for less than £10 all together!
I'll just leave you with a couple of pictures to give you an idea of where I might be for some of next week - can you guess?
I want to check out this amazing sculpture to see how much it has rusted over the last couple of years and update my pictures of it. The complete phrase is - "I hear these voices that wll not be drowned."
Have a good week.
Wend

I love the fabrics of the aprons and the blanket is wonderful. I remember having one as a child on my bed, I think my grandma made it for me. I must ask my mum if she still has it.

Just HOW lucky are you to have found that blanket? It was "meant" to be yours, that's why the parking spot was there waiting. I love those last two pictures. The figurehead is a beauty and that sculpture.......... breathtaking. Hope you publish more similar pictures. x
ReplyDeleteSome lovely thrifty finds! I love old LA stuff!xx
ReplyDeleteHow fantastic, they are all gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that crochet blanket, I never seem to find anything quite as good as that. Is that the shell on Aldeburgh beach by any chance. I dropped my daughter off there this morning. Usually she drives to work but someone has gone completely mad with the no parking signs and the police will tow away anything that dares to stand still. I wove my way through the diversions and eventually found the back of the shop. Everything looks good for the carnival though, some really pretty houses with flags and a lovely atmosphere. I'll go back later and try and find her amongst the crowds. Have a great time.

Lovely, lovely things - I am buying up French aprons as I find them, even though I myself need an oilcloth pinny in the kitchen. I also snapped up quite a lot of 80s Laura Ashley fabric in a French charity shop, which really puzzled me. Like you, I'm not quite sure what to do with it yet. For me, even though your blanket is a show-stealer, I think I like your LA curtains even more! That's the year I went to university - I think I may still be stuck in a time warp where that fabric is concerned...
ReplyDeleteGreat finds.

Wonderful charity shop finds. You obviously have a "nose" for these things...haha. Curtains in charity shops are quite amazing. You can get some fabulous lined ones in nearly perfect condition for about £10. I love that zingy crochet blanket too. What a huge amount of work someone has put into that. What will you do with it?

ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog - I love your blanket - an amazing find, and I remember that Laura Ashley fabric. I used to find small crochet blankets quite regularly, but I think they must have all gone to London now - maybe to the CK shops!
