Useful or beautiful - or both?

Please forgive the excessive number of pictures of one item,



but I was thrilled to find this huge beautiful afghan on Friday. The colours are



to die for, its pure wool,



and it's massive.



It has faults - a couple of grannies are starting to unravel but I'm hoping that my new crochet class started last Tuesday will give me the skills to put them right.



In the meantime it can only be moved carefully, gingerly, so as not to increase the holes...

I'll never be cold again!

    Useful and beautiful - it would make a nice wall hanging for a bedroom wall, a throw over a sofa or a blanket for a massive bed! The options are limitless! What a lucky find!

    Wow! What an amazing find. Very definitely beautiful and useful. Makes those crochet lessons even more good to do. (Terrible grammar, but you get my drift?)

    That is definitely TDF! What a find! Could you explain to the uninitiated, what 'grannies unravelling' is? Is it the same as when Mummys start to unravel?

    What a treat, one day I say I will crochet one of my own, they are not difficult, they just take a lot of patience and work. I am sure you will be able to restore this one.

    had i been beside you as you were buying it i'd have had to physically prevent you from doing so.....! i know you will be very happy and very warm and i very grudingly wish you well in its comfort...

    Wend,
    This must have taken someone hours to make, a real labour of love. I've no doubt you'll be able to do the running repairs necessary but once you can do trebles and doubles you'll be wanting to 'work into that chain' and make your own I think!! Lesley
