Your description of the men wearing miners helmets reminded me of a scene in the stage version of Billy Elliot which I loved. One of my sons played in various bands as he grew up, he went on to do a degree in music, and still plays with them occasionally - usually when they are in a competition - although his jacket/uniform is getting a bit tight these days! lol!

Vicky xAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14710224174192867236noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2992762951482940335.post-14277399889424613792009-12-15T13:47:42.462+01:002009-12-15T13:47:42.462+01:00Well, I am happy to report that my son's schoo...Well, I am happy to report that my son's school has a thriving brass band. He has also joined his local British Legion Brass Band recently, along with quite a few of his school friends! He loves it, has improved his playing hugely and has had 10 'gigs' at various places this month. He plays the trombone and he is 11 and we live in Suffolk, not the North! Tomorrow we are going listen to him in the big brass band/ carol concert at the local cinema and I bet it will be packed.Dawnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12511795931503131710noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2992762951482940335.post-29994716683986024132009-12-15T11:02:15.070+01:002009-12-15T11:02:15.070+01:00Hmm, there were plenty of younge people in my husb...Hmm, there were plenty of younge people in my husband's brass band when we lived in Cumbria. It was definitely a family thing, with three generations playing together in many bands. That was in the '90s, no doubt when Brassed Off was set (?? can't remember for sure). I don't know what it's like now but I suspect that the only young people to go to see a brass band would be players themselves. Bet it was fun, though!Flosshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18098894367955345944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2992762951482940335.post-32057355034515782812009-12-15T10:08:06.727+01:002009-12-15T10:08:06.727+01:00Hi just popped in to say hello, i am living in Nor...Hi just popped in to say hello, i am living in Northamptonshire also Lower Weedon, Stephne xSalvage Threadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06956339936289021933noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2992762951482940335.post-88783638071413579282009-12-15T07:04:56.066+01:002009-12-15T07:04:56.066+01:00There's nothing like a good brass band and I l...There's nothing like a good brass band and I loved that film too.
I doubt I would go to any music event with my mum but I have been to see Bon Jovi with my daughter!! ;-)Salhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10991496263250729580noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2992762951482940335.post-36634190629235415332009-12-15T00:20:40.008+01:002009-12-15T00:20:40.008+01:00Hi Wend

Every year a choir comes to Somerton and sings a full repertoire lasting a couple of hours, at the start of the Somerton Arts Festival. Mum and I always go.

Seasons greetings!

Sue xVintage to Victorianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00227207487929669724noreply@blogger.com
